有田焼の産地・佐賀県有田町で、1616年（元和2年）に陶祖・李参平によって日本で最初に陶磁器がつくられました。

有田の地に工房を構えるしん窯は、1830年（天保年間）に有田皿山・外山に創業し、鍋島藩の指導のもとに民窯として築かれましした
